With all the attention seemingly being placed on obtaining planning consent the main importance of the planning stage seems to have been lost along the way.

Afterall, this is fundamentally what the planning stage is for - as we always tell our customers it costs nothing to put a wall somewhere only to decide you would rather have the area opened up when you are doing it on a set of plans, whereas once you have started on site, building and subsequently demolishing walls can work out very costly indeed.
